Q: What is BCAVTS all about?

A: Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School offers specialized career and technical training to eligible high school students in Butler County. Course work centers in these high priority occupational areas: trade, technical, mechanical, production, and service.

Q: Who can apply to BCAVTS?

A: Depending on individual home school district policies, students completing 9th, 10th, or 11th grade may apply for admission to any one of the programs. 

Q: What school districts participate in the BCAVTS?

A:

  2. Karns City Area School District
  3. Knoch School District
  4. Mars Area School District
  5. Moniteau School District
  6. Seneca Valley School District
  7. Slippery Rock Area School District

Other school districts may send students on a tuition basis upon approval.

Q: What would my day be like if I attend BCAVTS?

A: You will spend a two-hour portion of your day at BCAVTS and the remainder of your day completing academic requirements at your home school.

Q: Can I still attend college if I take a BCAVTS course?

A: Absolutely! You can even earn college credits in some BCAVTS programs.

Q: How do I earn college credits while at BCAVTS?

A: Many colleges and technical schools reward BCAVTS students with credits. Click on the "Programs" tab on the home page to learn about Articulation Agreements available in each specific course.

Q: Can I attend BCAVTS if I go to a Cyber School, Private School, or being home schooled?

A: Contact your home school district administrative office for details.
