Lily Anderson is a 2022 Student of the Year Finalist!
Lily is receiving the Academic K award at Knoch High School for making Highest Honor Roll for all four semesters this school year. She is the Vice-President of SkillsUSA and is also a member of NTHS at BCAVTS. As busy as Lily is, she made time to compete in the SkillsUSA District-10 and State competitions in Prepared Speech and was very successful, receiving a Silver medal at Districts and placing 6 out of 10 in the State competition! Also, this very motivated student has attended BCAVTS for three years and obtained the required 1250 cosmetology hours in order to sit for her State Boards. With this amazing accomplishment, Lily recently started on a cooperative education opportunity through BCAVTS, at The Scissors’ Edge with Mrs. Tori Durci, owner and a previous Vo-Tech student. That’s not all! Lily also is a waitress at a local restaurant in Saxonburg. In her free time, she loves drawing, painting and being outside enjoying nature! Beginning in August, Lily plans to attend Butler Beauty Academy to earn her Cosmetology Teachers’ License. After Lily conquers this endeavor, she hopes to teach Cosmetology as this has always been her dream career! We are very proud of Lily!
Maggie Zielinski a 2022 Student of the Year Finalist!
Maggie is a second year Welding student at BCAVTS. Her teacher shares that she has excelled exponentially over the past two years! Maggie has passed American Welding Society (AWS) Certifications in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years. She is a High Honor student at Seneca Valley High School and a member of NTHS at BCAVTS. For her Seneca Valley Senior Project, Maggie created a beautiful hand-crafted, welded waterfall. Her project was the talk of the Welding program, and the school, for some time! Many staff members admired the project and made a point to stop by Welding and congratulate Maggie and express their amazement! Also, Maggie shared that she has enjoyed the opportunities she has received this school year and feels that her experiences have helped her grow as a person and as a student. Moreover, she couldn’t have done it without her family, friends and mentors! As full as Maggie’s life is, she makes time for a part-time job and has worked at Chick-fil-A for the past three years. She of course enjoys welding, riding horses and attending the gym in her free time. Maggie’s future plans are to work as a welder and to pursue a career with the Steamfitters. We are very proud of Maggie!
