About the Program:
The purpose of the Sports Medicine program is to prepare students with a strong foundation in the field of physical therapy, occupational therapy and sports medicine. Students will develop skills in prevention, recognition, assessment, management, disposition, and rehabilitation of injuries. Students will learn the principles of designing exercise programs for healthy individuals and those who are in a rehabilitation phase after an accident or injury. Students will also learn the how to develop proper diets through the essentials of nutrition. Upon successful completion, students should be able to assess injuries and illnesses, provide immediate and long-term care, determine the outlook, and design a basic rehabilitation program.
The Sports Medicine program will prepare students to work in a variety of entry-level positions within the physical and occupational therapy occupations pathway. Students will also have a solid educational base on which to build a post-secondary degree, if they chose to do so.
